Field Vest.
Field Vest is a safety work aid, designed to provide convenience and a sense of safety for the female commuter through fit, hidden storage solutions and heavyweight material.
This vest is also an exploration of natural fibre as an alternative to synthetics in outerwear.
14oz Cotton canvas treated with beeswax + linseed oil. Second hand cotton liner material.
Fall 2024.
Concept.
This project seeks to address and assist in the sense of safety of the female commuter in an urban space. Consideration of material was grounded in comfort, neutrality, and durability, and validated by testing with wax.
Prototyping.
Development began with paper mock-ups and small textile mock-ups, before moving to a block pattern, then prototype pattern and a muslin test.
Construction.
Upon updates to fit and pattern, the final pattern pieces were cut, waxed, and constructed.
